Top must-know terms

Familiar terms have a unique meaning in Enhanced Planning.

Accounts

The General Ledger accounts which you use in Sage Intacct Financials to categorize your financial transactions, are used in Planning as the main component of your plan lines.

Actuals

Your actuals from Intacct Financials can be used in your plans to include current and accurate data for time periods that have passed. This is especially useful for evolving forecasts. You can't modify these values in Planning, but you can refresh them if they were updated in Intacct Financials. For more information, see Refresh actuals.

Adjust

A method of editing cell values in relation to the current value. For more information, see Adjust values.

Budget

Referred to as a plan in Planning.

Change history

Displays the history of all changes made by any user to the current plan that you are viewing. You can use filters to focus in on specific changes. For more information, see View change history.

Dimensions

You associate dimensions from Sage Intacct Financials to accounts to create your plan lines, which help you classify, filter, and analyze plan data in meaningful ways. Plan owners can use dimensions to limit user access to plan lines relevant to their role, as described in Manage user permissions. Filter plan views by dimensions to focus on specific plan lines, as described in Filter and group plan lines.

Extended access

A permissions setting that extends user permissions to also include access to edit or remove formula related data in shared plans. For more information, see Manage user permissions.

Forecast

To create a forecast in Planning, create a version of a plan and add actuals from Sage Intacct Financials. For more information, see Create versions.

Formula

Advanced calculations that you add to plan lines. Within formulas, you can add plan line references to create dependencies between plan lines. For more information, see Add or edit a formula.

Leaf view

The default view of the plan grid when leaf view is on, whereby all plan lines are visible. When you turn leaf view off, a summary of the plan appears, whereby each line represents the aggregated data of each account.

Lock version

Locking a version prevents any users from making further changes to the version. You usually do this after your version is final. For more information, see Lock and unlock plans.

Owner

Owners have the highest level of permissions. They have full access to all plan data, can create plans and versions, manage user permissions, and share plans. For more information, see Manage user permissions.

Plan

A budget for an upcoming period that you customize with accounts, dimensions, and transactional data from Sage Intacct Financials.

Plan line

Each plan line is a unique combination of an account and associated dimensions values.

Plan line reference

A component of a formula that enables you to create a dependency between plan lines. For more information, see Insert a plan line reference.

Scope

A step of creating a new plan, whereby you establish the time frame, accounts, and dimensions to use in your plan.

Structure

A step of creating a new plan, whereby you associate dimensions to a range of accounts.

Sync wizard

Aligns any changes to accounts and dimensions in Sage Intacct Financials to future plans. For more information, see Sync accounts and dimensions.

User

A user can only access plans shared with them by an owner and can view accounts and dimensions within those plans as defined by the owner. For more information, see Manage user permissions.

Version

A copy of a plan that you create for what-if scenarios, forecasting, or a copy for sharing. After you create a version, it exists independently as its own plan. For more information, see Create versions.
